SonicDE SlackBuild Notes Current idea ------------ This tree is based on Slackware-current's KDE source tree, but adjusted to test SonicDE source replacements with minimal changes. The goal is not to rewrite Slackware's KDE build system. Common KDE/KF6 packages should continue to come from Slackware's normal KDE build. This SonicDE tree should build only the packages where SonicDE has real source forks/tags. Important changes ----------------- kde/ was renamed to sonicde/ kde.SlackBuild was renamed to sonicde.SlackBuild The build driver is now: sonicde/sonicde.SlackBuild SonicDE source tarballs are generated under: sonicde/src/ Use this helper before building if the tarballs are not present: cd sonicde ./sonicde_checkout.sh -c -f sonic The old KDE source tarballs that were replaced by SonicDE sources were removed. Source mapping -------------- Packages listed in sonicde/package-renames are generated with SonicDE package names. The internal Slackware/KDE package key is still used for build metadata lookup. SonicDE source names are selected through pkgsrc mappings. Example: sonicde/pkgsrc/kdecoration -> plasma/sonic-decoration sonicde/pkgsrc/kwin-x11 -> plasma/sonic-win sonicde/pkgsrc/plasma-workspace -> plasma/sonic-workspace This keeps Slackware's existing module names, patches, cmake overrides, post-install scripts, slack-desc files, and dependency expectations working. When UPGRADE=yes and a SonicDE output package has a different name, the build uses upgradepkg's oldname%newpackage form so the matching KDE/Plasma package is replaced instead of installed in parallel. Build module ------------ A focused SonicDE module is provided: sonicde/modules/sonic This is the recommended test target. It contains SonicDE packages with a public Sonic-DE repository and matching tag. Test package resolution: cd sonicde PRINT_PACKAGE_NAME=1 ./sonicde.SlackBuild sonic Build and install on a test machine: TMP=/tmp/sonicde-build \ SLACK_KDE_BUILD_DIR=/tmp/sonicde-packages \ UPGRADE=yes \ SKIPBUILT=no \ EXITFAIL=yes \ ./sonicde.SlackBuild Build without installing: TMP=/tmp/sonicde-build \ SLACK_KDE_BUILD_DIR=/tmp/sonicde-packages \ UPGRADE=no \ SKIPBUILT=no \ EXITFAIL=yes sonicde-meta Notes ----- Running ./sonicde.SlackBuild with no arguments builds the focused SonicDE module. If SLACK_KDE_BUILD_DIR is not set, packages are written under /tmp/sonicde_build by default. This tree currently tracks the confirmed public SonicDE tags used by the build: Frameworks 6.27.0/6.27.0.1 plus tagged support libraries, KIO Extras 26.07.70, and Plasma/SonicDE 6.7.1/6.7.2 package sources, including 6.7.2.1 and 6.7.2.3 point tags. A full package build on Slackware-current is still the real integration test. Some runtime names may still say Plasma/KDE. That is expected because many upstream install paths, CMake targets, translations, and scripts still use KDE or Plasma names. Slackware does not use dependency metadata like Arch. Treat the package list as documentation: install Slackware KDE/Plasma first, then replace only the listed stock packages with SonicDE builds. Keep the rest of KDE/Plasma installed. SonicDE system information reads /etc/xdg/scm-about-distrorc. The package also installs /etc/xdg/kcm-about-distrorc for compatibility with the KDE/Slackware name.
